Russian guns

I have the question regarding Russian guns of XIX centuary

Was the Russian pound (funt) uised to clasiffy guns
equal to the British pound or was simply Russian one
In this second way all Russian guins will be iferior
to British ones?

I have the question regarding Russian guns of XIX centuary

Gun caliber was  measured in artillery pounds (=490 g, almost same as French pound of 489.5 g), gunshot - in Russian trade pounds (=409.5 g); thus, a 36-pdr gun had shot weight of 43 Russian pounds. Thus, Russian guns had weight of shot by about 8% more than the British guns of the same caliber; ratio of Russian/British shots' weights was roughly same as ratio of French/British ones.
